Birthday Party Activities - Snackster Sam Birthday Party

Ready to throw a fun birthday party? Bring your party guests on an adventure with Snackster Sam!

Before you start the party, invite everyone with Snackster Sam birthday invitations! 

The Moon

When each child arrives to the party, welcome them to Snackster Sam’s moon! Give each child a Snackster Sam antenna.

Snackster Sam Antenna

Items:

• Purple construction paper
• Yellow or orange pipe cleaners
• Styrofoam balls
• Orange paint
• Stapler

Directions:

• Paint or spray paint each ball orange at least one day prior to the party.
• Wrap the pipe cleaners around a pencil or similar object to create a curly shape. When the balls are dry, push the pipe cleaner into the ball.
• Cut the construction paper into 3” wide sections. Staple two sections together to form a longer paper to make a headband.
• When each child arrives to the party, measure their head using the paper and staple together to create a headband. Staple the antennas to the paper.​

Optional: Before kicking off the party, consider reading Snackster Sam’s Big Adventure to the kids so they know what happens on each planet.

You can set the party up in a variety of ways, such as in stations or guiding the group to the next activity. This may depend on their ages. We chose to guide the groups to each “planet” or activity. Keep reading for activity ideas for each planet! ​

Orange Planet

Lollipop Jump
Welcome to the Orange Planet! Be like a Jumping Jack and see how far you can jump!

What you need:

• Craft popsicle sticks

How to play:

• Each child places one popsicle stick between their knees. Create a starting and finish line. It’s a race to see who can get to the finish line first! You have to keep the popsicle stick between your knees (you can’t touch it or let it fall to the ground) and you must jump to the finish line. If you drop the stick, you need to run back to the beginning and start again. 

You can also place the children into pairs or groups and have a team competition. ​

Green Planet

Pin the Candle on the Cake
​Welcome to the Green Planet! Can you place the birthday candle on the cake?

What you need:

• Poster board
• Permanent marker
• Foam double-sided tape

Directions:

• On the poster board, draw a cake (this is a fun activity to create with the birthday kid before the party). It doesn’t need to be beautiful, just use your imagination and draw a cake! Outline the cake with a permanent marker or you can color it, too! ​
• Cut off a section of the poster board for candles. Draw and cut out the candles. Place a foam double-sided piece of tape on each candle. ​

How to play:

• This is a spin on pin the tail on the donkey. 
• Give each child a candle that’s ready to be stuck on the board. 
• Blindfold the child and spin him/her the number of years the birthday kid is that day… so if it’s a 6th birthday party, spin the child 6 times. 
• Whoever can place their candle closest to the cake, wins!

Red Planet

Juice Mix
Welcome to the Red Planet! Mix colors and see what happens!

Items:

• Four buckets
• Water
• Food coloring
• Optional: sensory items such as confetti
• Clear cups
• Measuring cups

Directions:

• Before the party, mix one color of food coloring and water in each bucket. For example, you will have a yellow water bucket, blue, red, and green. Add sensory items. Set out cups and items to scoop water. ​

How to play:

• Each child can have a clear cup and use the measuring spoons to scoop water into their cup. They can mix different colors into their cups and see what happens! Some combinations make a different color than what you might expect!​
• This works best outside so they can dump out their water to make a new mixture.

Blue Planet

Grow a Snack
You finally made it! Let’s create a snack that we can grow, eat, and share like Snackster Sam!

What you need: 

• Pots (one for each child)
• Potting soil
• Radish seeds
  
• Items for decorating:
  • Paint
  • Paint brushes
    
• Optional: String, Ribbon, Stickers, Glitter paint, Craft glue, Painting smocks/aprons

How to play:

• First, give each child a pot and paint brush. First have them paint and decorate the pots.
• After each child has decorated their pot, add soil and plant the seeds. Radish seeds are great because they sprout quickly and you don’t need to repot it, but you can use any seed! 
• During this time, you can talk about how seeds grow and what plants need to survive. ​
• Let the pots dry while you go eat cake and open presents! Make sure to tell their parents/guardians to water the plant and watch it grow!
