 What am I?I’m an ancient stone fruit. My color can be yellow, green, red, and dark purple. Sometimes I’m shaped like an egg and other times I’m shaped like a ball. Needless to say, I come in more varieties than you probably knew. Each part of the world grows different varieties.  Where I growI grow in many different places around the world, from Europe to Asia and America. I grow on trees in areas with mild temperature. My tree blossoms with beautiful flowers in the spring, then the bees pollinate the flowers and my fruit starts to grow!  After I'm pickedI’m ready to pick off the tree in the summer when I smell sweet and my color is right. After I'm picked, you can enjoy me in many ways. Some people like to eat me fresh, biting into my sweet and juicy flesh. Others like to cook me in pies, tarts, or turn me into yummy jams. You can even dry me to make tasty and chewy dried fruits!  Did you guess... PlumsEspañol: ciruela That's right! Plums are sweet stone fruits. Stone means it has a pit inside, so be careful when you eat it.
